Welcome to the new home of Veterans Hockey United. If this is your first time here — or your first visit since the site refresh — thanks for stopping by.
VHU is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit built around a simple idea: hockey brings warriors home. We exist to unite military veterans, active duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, and their families through the game we love — and in doing so, to build the camaraderie, mental wellness, and community that so many of us miss after the uniform comes off.
The new website is more than a coat of paint. It’s the front door to an entire connected VHU experience:
- A refreshed public site with clearer info about who we are, what we do, and how to get involved
- A live events calendar that updates automatically as tournaments, charity games, and community meetups get added
- The VHU Player Portal at portal.veteranshockeyunited.org — where members RSVP to events, chat with teammates, and manage their profile
- The VHU mobile app on iOS and Android for the same experience on your phone, with push notifications so you never miss a puck drop
- A new VHU Gear storefront (powered by Red Wolf Hockey) linked right from the top nav — every purchase helps keep the mission moving
What’s coming up this fall
We’ve got three big events on the calendar for the rest of 2026:
FDNY 9/11 Cup Tournament — September 14-17
Dix Hills Arena, Dix Hills, NY
Our East Coast crew heads to Long Island to honor first responders and remember 9/11 through the game we love.
ASHA Las Vegas — November 12-16
Las Vegas, NV
Our biggest tournament of the year. Multiple VHU teams, players flying in from every region, and a whole week of hockey and brotherhood.
Charity Game + SD Gulls Game — November 21
Pechanga Arena, San Diego, CA
Skate on NHL ice at a charity game paired with a San Diego Gulls matchup. Family-friendly, community-focused, and always a highlight of the season.
Full details, registration, and roster info for each of these live in the Player Portal. If you’re not a member yet, sign up today at veteranshockeyunited.org/get-involved — and we’ll get you connected to your regional captain.
Whether you’re a longtime member, a brand-new signup, a sponsor, or a family member cheering from the stands: welcome. VHU is what it is because of every single person in this community. Thank you for being part of it.
See you on the ice.
